The body features cartouches depicting a bird amongst flowering branches, framed by scrolling foliate motifs and geometric banding in iron-red, green, and gilt.
The neck and shoulder are extensively embellished with continuous floral sprays and stylised ornament, heightened with gilding. The overall decorative scheme reflects 20th-century Chinese export interpretations of Japanese Satsuma and earlier Oriental ceramic traditions.
The underside bears a red printed mark reading 'Made in China', indicating manufacture for export.
