Decorative baluster-form papier-mâché vase, lacquered in a rich red ground and finely hand-painted with gilt and polychrome floral and foliate motifs. The body centred by a circular medallion of dense scrolling foliage, with further ornamentation to the waisted neck and flared rim. Finished with radiating gilt decoration to the foot. A strong example of Kashmiri papier-mâché, reflecting Persian and Mughal design influences.
