Origin: Probably British or Australian studio pottery
Date: Late 20th century (c.1970–1990)
Material: Glazed earthenware
Technique: Tube-lined decoration
Mark: Painted monogram to base (appears “TH” or similar)
Description:
A decorative hand-thrown studio pottery vase of gently flared cylindrical form with rounded shoulder and footed base. The body is richly decorated with large stylised red poppy blooms with black centres and green foliage, outlined in pale raised slip against a mottled cobalt blue ground with cream vertical panels.
The raised outlining suggests a tube-lined technique, closely associated with wares produced by Moorcroft and the work of its founder William Moorcroft. The bold floral motif and deep blue ground echo well-known Moorcroft patterns such as Corn Poppy.
